This is the design of a stage scenery for the play ‘I Am My Own Wife’, which is an examination of Charlotte’s von Mahlsdorf life, a transgendered survivor of the Nazi and Communist regimes in East Berlin. By collecting abandoned personal objects of people who left to the West she turned an uninhabited mansion into a museum; in my view, representing an imaginative household. I constructed objects which one could experience in the between reality and fantasy realms; I portrayed how her strong relationship with these memorabilia could replace live people. A place she could dream in, a shelter for her through her memories.
